Dear Sister

by  Harmeet Kaur

dear sister,

when i see you, dear sister,

with their shadows masking your face

your eyes lowered in shame

your mouth trembling in fear

it brings tears to my eyes

and anger to my heart.

 .

when i see you, dear sister,

riddled with insecurity,

tangled in the webs of the world

questioning your Self

and walking away from His door

it brings despair to my eyes

and pain to my heart.

 .

when i see you, dear sister,

singing in His glory and basking in His love

your stance so humble,

yet your voice so fierce,

it brings glee to my eyes

and joy to my heart.

 .

when i see you, dear sister,

with His Crown upon your head,

your eyes sparkling with Truth

your smile brighter than the sun

it brings light to my eyes

and hope to my heart.

 .

when i see you, dear sister

breaking down the walls that you have so carefully built

stepping out and above all who insult you

recognizing His grace and embracing your perfection

taking shelter at His door and closing all others

it brings glory to my eyes,

and deep admiration to my heart.

 .

when i see you, dear sister,

refusing to give in, fighting to stay strong

falling in love with every whisper of His Word

walking towards Him, each step more majestic than the last

your head held high and your palms so gently pressed

it brings awe to my eyes

and unparalleled love to my heart.

 .

oh, when i see you, dear sister…

Harmeet
